Passenger Terms of Use
Terms for customers booking taxis through our platform
Last updated: 1 March 2026
Important: Please read before booking
TaxiDesk is a booking technology platform. We are not a taxi company and do not provide transport services. When you book a taxi through a TaxiDesk kiosk or widget, your contract for the journey is with the taxi operator (the company whose branding is displayed), not with TaxiDesk. TaxiDesk acts as a disclosed agent on behalf of the taxi operator to facilitate your booking and, where applicable, collect payment.
1. Definitions
- "TaxiDesk", "we", "us" refers to Moova Mobilise Limited (company number 793113, registered in Ireland), the technology platform provider.
- "Operator" or "Transport Provider" refers to the licensed taxi or private hire vehicle company that provides the transport service.
- "You" or "Passenger" refers to the person making a booking through a Kiosk or Widget.
- "Kiosk" refers to the digital booking page, typically found at physical locations such as hotels, train stations, or reception desks.
- "Widget" refers to the embeddable booking form found on third-party websites.
- "Fare" refers to the price quoted for the taxi journey, as determined by the Operator's dispatch system.
2. Our Role
TaxiDesk provides booking technology only. We act as a disclosed agent on behalf of the Operator. This means:
- The contract for transport is between you and the Operator.
- TaxiDesk is not a party to the transport contract.
- The Operator is responsible for the quality, safety, and timeliness of the journey.
- Where you pay by card, TaxiDesk collects payment on behalf of the Operator. Payment to TaxiDesk discharges your payment obligation to the Operator.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and legally capable of entering into binding agreements to use this service. By making a booking, you confirm that you meet these requirements.
4. Booking Process
When you use a Kiosk or Widget to book a taxi:
- You enter your pickup and drop-off details and select a vehicle type.
- The Operator's dispatch system provides a fare quote.
- You choose to pay by cash (in the vehicle) or by card (pre-payment).
- Upon confirmation, the booking is dispatched to the Operator's fleet.
By confirming a booking, you agree to these Passenger Terms and accept the quoted fare.
5. Fares and Quotes
Fares are determined by the Operator's dispatch system and are subject to the Operator's pricing. TaxiDesk does not set, control, or guarantee fares.
Quoted fares are estimates based on the pickup and drop-off locations provided. The fare shown is a guide and may vary due to factors including but not limited to: route changes or additional stops requested by the passenger, diversions, traffic conditions, waiting time en route, or toll charges.
5.1 Cash Fares (Metered)
Where you choose to pay by cash, the fare is determined by the vehicle's taximeter during the journey. The quoted fare is an estimate only and the final metered fare may be higher or lower depending on the actual route, traffic, and any waiting time.
5.2 Card Fares (Fixed)
Where you choose to pay by card, the fare is fixed at the time of booking for the quoted route. However, additional charges may apply if you request changes during the journey, such as additional stops, route diversions, or extended waiting time. Any such additional charges are at the Operator's discretion and may be collected separately.
6. Payment
6.1 Card Payments
Card payments are processed securely by Stripe on behalf of the Operator. When you pay by card, the quoted fare is charged at the time of booking. Your payment is made to the Operator; TaxiDesk collects it as the Operator's agent.
TaxiDesk does not store your card details. All payment data is processed by Stripe in accordance with PCI DSS requirements.
6.2 Cash Payments
Where you choose to pay by cash, payment is made directly to the driver at the end of the journey. TaxiDesk has no involvement in cash transactions.
7. Cancellations and Refunds
Cancellation and refund policies are determined by the Operator. If you need to cancel a booking or request a refund, please contact the Operator directly.
Where a card payment has been taken and the Operator agrees to a refund, the refund will be processed back to your original payment method. Refund processing times are subject to your bank's procedures.
If the Operator fails to provide the booked service (no-show by the driver), you are entitled to a full refund of any card payment made. Contact the Operator or email support@taxidesk.co.uk for assistance.
8. Passenger Conduct
When travelling, you agree to:
- Behave in a reasonable and respectful manner towards the driver.
- Not smoke or vape in the vehicle.
- Not consume alcohol in the vehicle unless permitted by the Operator.
- Not cause damage to the vehicle. You may be liable for cleaning or repair costs if you damage the vehicle.
- Comply with any reasonable instructions from the driver.
- Wear a seatbelt at all times during the journey.
The driver reserves the right to refuse or terminate a journey if your behaviour is threatening, abusive, or endangers safety. No refund will be given in such circumstances.
Unaccompanied minors: Children under 18 may not travel unaccompanied unless the Operator's policy expressly permits it.
9. Limitation of Liability
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for:
- Death or personal injury caused by negligence.
- Fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
- Any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under English law.
Subject to the above, TaxiDesk's liability is limited to its role as a technology platform and booking facilitator. TaxiDesk is not liable for:
- The quality, safety, punctuality, or legality of the transport service provided by the Operator.
- Driver availability, arrival times, or route choices.
- Any loss, damage, or injury arising from the transport service.
- Actions or omissions of the Operator or their drivers.
- Any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss.
TaxiDesk's total aggregate liability to you in connection with any booking shall not exceed £50 or the fare paid for that booking, whichever is greater.
Your remedy for complaints about the transport service is against the Operator, not TaxiDesk.
10. Complaints
Complaints about the transport service (driver behaviour, vehicle condition, journey quality) should be directed to the Operator. Their contact details are available on the Kiosk booking page.
Complaints about the TaxiDesk platform (technical issues, payment processing errors) can be sent to support@taxidesk.co.uk.
11. Your Personal Data
When you make a booking, the Operator is the data controller for your booking data (pickup/drop-off locations, name, phone number). TaxiDesk processes this data on the Operator's behalf as a data processor.
For details on how TaxiDesk handles data, see our Privacy Policy. To exercise your data rights regarding booking data, please contact the Operator directly.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Updated terms apply to bookings made after the update. Previously accepted terms continue to govern bookings made under them.
13. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
